This post has been a long time coming – not just the post, but the actions behind it. I have long touted that one of my number one – if not my number one – value is Authenticity/Integrity. To me this means knowing who you are and being able to step into who you are and own it. When you do, all your actions and words match and are in alignment with that persona. What you see is what you get.

For several years now, I have tiptoed around the aspect of my business that I truly love and is a big part of me and who I am. I was worried about offending people (maybe?) and definitely I was worried that people wouldn’t like me anymore. OR they would think I had “fallen off the deep end” so to speak. Amazingly, (or not) this aspect of my business is also what my customers respond to with the most excitement. What is it, you ask? It is astrology.

I love it! I love the stories behind it, I love the stars and planets in the sky, I love the beautiful combination of science, math, psychology, philosophy and art that is astrology. I love to see it in action. It works! (doesn’t matter if you believe in it or not)

And the idea I had several years ago to combine astrology and life coaching can no longer be hidden. It just makes too much sense to me and to the clients I’ve used this with. With normal astrologers, you get your annual reading and don’t see or speak to them again until the following year or if something traumatic happens in your life. Life coaching provides this added element of helping people along the way. Astrology can provide the potential of your life – your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, life purpose, and more. It is all laid out there in the blueprint of your chart. What you choose to do with this potential is up to you because we are all given free will by the Divine. This is where the coaching comes in to help people take this potential and develop it in the most positive, effective and efficient manner. Why not take into account the “weather forecast” provided by astrology to help you determine when to make certain changes in your life? I see this as a beautiful marriage between two incredibly powerful disciplines. And there is no one else out there combining them in this way.

A year ago this coming week, I left my lucrative career in the corporate world to finally live the life I felt was truly mine. For years I felt I had been living two lives. I had one life in which I put on the persona of corporate consultant, getting up each morning and being the person I was expected to be by my clients and employers. And then outside of that world I was living my “real life” as a life coach, astrologer, student of spiritual paths, etc. Last year I finally reached a breaking point in which I could no longer live two lives. I needed to jump ship from the life that wasn’t “mine” and live the one that was. So, when I quit my job, I fully anticipated that I would be flung head-long into my new life. Only, it didn’t really happen like that. It was more a process – rather than jumping from one path to the other, I began to veer from one path to the other. It was a slow and arduous process and one in which I had to step out of my comfort zone daily to show a little bit more of who I really was to the world. Astrology was one of those things I kept leaving in my back pocket and only pulling out when I felt someone could “handle it”. This process truly felt as though I was giving birth! When I described it to a gay friend of mine, he said, “Of course, you’re coming out!” Yes! That makes so much sense!

No more! This way of coaching is too powerful not to share with the world. So, this blog will now become more of a personal blog covering all kinds of issues and interests from my point of view. I know there are many of you out there thinking, What is my Intuitive type? How would I know since I don’t even think I’m intuitive?” Well, let’s get rid of that myth right now! EVERYONE has intuitive abilities. We are born with them – Just like we’re all born with a brain.

Some of us may have more natural abilities and some of us exercise our abilities more so they get stronger, but we all have them. So I really would like to encourage those of you who think you don’t have them to start building your intuitive muscle!

Now, let’s see what type of intuitive you are. There are four main types and you probably are actually a combination of all of them, but there will most likely be 1 or 2 that stand out for you. These types are:

1) Visual or Clairvoyant

You are a visual intuitive is you can easily see pictures in your mind’s eye. When someone asks you to imagine something, it there in great detail for you.A more advanced visual intuitive might also be able to see auras around people, plants and animals. These are the people who say things like “I see what you mean.” or “That looks like a great idea.” Do you tend to need to see something in order to understand it or learn about it? If so, it is likely that you are a visual intuitive.

2) Auditory or Clairaudient

You are an auditory intuitive if you can easily hear things in your mind. You might easily remember conversations word-for-word or excel in music. You are the person who “hears” messages or words in your mind rather than seeing them. These are the people that say things like “I’m hearing you.” or “That sounds like a great idea.” It’s possible that if you are an auditory learner (someone who needs to hear an explanation of a lesson or new idea to understand it), you are likely an auditory intuitive.

3) Feeling or Clairsentient

These are the people who feel things in their bodies. They may get a stomach-ache when entering a room in which there’s been an argument. When making a decision, the wrong one might make them fell uptight, heart rate might go up and the right one might make them feel calm and centered. These are the people who use language like “I’ve got a felling about this.” or “I’m going with my gut on this one.”

4) Knowing or Claircognizant

These people fell as though the “just know” things. They can’t explain why – they are not necessarily “seeing”, “hearing” or “feeling” things… they just KNOW. There might even be a learning style that matches this type of person – they tend to just know the answers to things and can’t really explain how they came to the correct solution.

The Zero-Point field is a phenomenon that scientists, especially quantum physicists have been buzzing about for years. It is a field of energy generated by all the particles of the universe. The energy there is the energy present in the emptiest state of space at the lowest possible energy, the closest that motion of subatomic matter gets to zero. You might think of it as the Force in Star Wars –it represents huge amounts of potential with no polarity or charge. However, attaching conditions to it can structure it. This field holds the potential of every atom. To bring this idea home to you, at any given moment you have before you an infinite number of possibilities. Where you choose to focus your consciousness is where that potential will manifest. So, the axiom ” What you focus on grows.” is not just New Age spiritual mumbo-jumbo, It’s really scientifically true.

Be very conscious of what you are focusing on and thinking about each moment. If you find you are focusing on negative thoughts or possibilities, immediately switch over to a positive thought or possibility.Make sure your actions are in congruence with those thought and that you are taking positive action towards the outcomes you are desiring. It really does work!

So, what does quantum physics do for us? It helps explain the possibilities. It keeps our left-brains happy. It helps them to know that there is possible a scientific explanation for all this woo-woo stuff. But it is a construct of our mind as well; and so it has limitations. I want you to stay in that field of possibilities as much as possible. So, let go of the model. My warning to you would be that while this is great for our left-brains, don’t run the risk of getting too attached to the science and theory of it. Because in order to make it work for us, we need to get out of our left brains and into our right brains…this is where many of the meditative and calming techniques I have been teaching you come in.

Have you ever been thinking of someone only to have them call you shortly after? Have you ever had a bad feeling about going somewhere only to find out by not going you missed a disaster? Have you ever just had a “gut” feeling about someone, only to have that feeling play out?

The difference between people’s abilities is simply the amount of practice they’ve had with it. Psychics are simply (intuitive) people who have honed this skill like an athlete and can now use this skill at their command.

You can also practice this skill and apply it in your life. It doesn’t matter what your religious affiliation or spiritual belief system is. We all have this ability. In order to get started and move forward, here are three tips to enhance your intuition:

1.    Become Aware

Notice what you notice. Be calm and still and see what you see at any given moment, notice what you hear, notice the sensations in your body. Just being aware of you and your surroundings as much as possible, will start opening doors to your higher guidance. You’’ start to notice the differences in what you see hear and feel and what those differences mean to you. From that you will be able to apply what you’re learning to any given situation.

2.    Trust what you receive

When you start to notice what you are seeing, hearing and felling, you may get the sensation that you are getting a message from this divine guidance, but it can feel like you’re just making it up. One of the most difficult things is for people to trust the messages they are receiving. AS you begin to trust and act on the messages, more will come and you will get clarity around your own method and style of receiving information. The only caveat is that your guidance system will never tell you to harm yourself or others or tell you negative things, like “You’re not good enough.” That is one clear way to tell if the messages you are receiving are valid or not.

3.    Practice, Practice, Practice

Nothing beats practice. Just like any other muscle, the intuitive muscle needs to be exercised. Keep practicing. Try to see if you can tell who’s calling before picking up the ringing phone. Try to guess how many emails you have received before checking it. Make it fun!

When we access this higher intelligence, we are accessing the higher intelligence of the universe. This keeps us in contact with the Divine Intelligence and helps us to know it better. The more we practice, the closer we get to it, and then our lives start changing in ways we can’t even begin to imagine.

If you want long-term financial sustainability, you need to meet yourself exactly where you are and find a compelling reason to change. When you explore what you really want for your life, you will find your compelling reason in your dreams and desires.

I’ve spoken to many people who ask, “How can I even think about my dreams and desires when I have a mountain of bills to pay?” My response is that if you do what you’ve always done, you will get what you’ve always gotten. Therefore, if you keep focusing only on bill paying, then that is all you will ever create. It’s important to shift your financial focus, even as you continue to pay your bills, to where you would like to be, to your dreams and desires.

First, look at your monthly expenses, your cash outflows. It’s about bringing consciousness to your spending, consciously choosing where you want your money to go. Today many of us spend on things that were important to us in our past and no longer serve us for our desires today. Here’s a simple example. I have a client who loves movies and chose to subscribe to all the cable TV movie channels, which cost her about $140 per month. As she began to look at her monthly expenses, she realized that she only watched eight movies a month and that it would be less expensive to watch them “on demand” and pay per movie instead of subscribing to the movie channels. This small shift saved her about $50 per month, and she is now putting $25 towards paying down her debt and $25 into her saving account to build a reserve in case she loses her job.

Once you look at the money going out, compare it to what is coming into your checking account each month. Have you come up with a positive or negative number? Remember, money is currency. The word currency comes from the root word current. What does a current do? It flows. Do you have a positive flow or a negative flow?

The second step is to categorize your expenses into three groups:
1) Paying for your past choices

2) Spending to support your present moment

3) Saving for your future

What percentage of your current income are you spending paying for past choices? If you are like many people, you are spending most of your current income paying for past choices – car loans, mortgages, credit card payments, student loans, etc. How can we happily live in the present moment when we are constantly paying for our past, let alone even think about planning for your dreams and desires for your future?

Create Financial Space
The solution is to begin today to create more financial space in your life. Even by taking very small steps, you will start to empower yourself and create the space into which abundance can flow.

1) Look at your monthly expenses and zone in any areas of cash outflow that are not a priority for you today. Estimate the total spending you can eliminate from your budget each month and intentionally shift those dollars to:
• ⅓ paying off more debt
• ⅓ spending on lifestyle. (This is money you can spend on items beyond the necessities of clothing, food, and a warm place to sleep. It’s up to you to prioritize your desires. For example, you can decide you want to spend an extra $50 per month on shoes, entertainment, or dining out, or you can put the money into a vacation fund.)
• ⅓ investing for your future (retirement accounts, 401Ks, savings and bonds, etc.)
2) Become your own bank! When you finish paying off a large loan, such as a car loan, intentionally take that dollar amount each month and direct deposit it into a separate savings account that is only to be used for your next car purchase.
3) Be proactive with your credit card debt. Go to a web site such as www.bankrate.com or www.creditcards.com to look for offers from credit card companies that will allow you to transfer your balance to a lower interest rate – ideally to 0% interest. You may also want to consider credit union loans.

Should I Save Money or Pay Down my Debts?
A frequent question I receive is whether it’s better to first pay off all of your debts before you start saving money. From a purely financial perspective, the interest you are paying may be more than the interest you could earn on your savings or investments. In this case, you may decide to not save at all and only pay down debt. However, I have found those who stick to this strategy only keep recreating their debt because when an emergency happens in life and you have no emergency reserves, what are you going to do? Yes, you will charge it!

Creating true abundance is about empowering yourself and no longer being a victim of your financial circumstances; it’s about taking charge and getting in the flow. If your interest is higher than what you are making in your savings account, shift this money to a 0% credit card, or refinance your house. If your credit score is too low to do so, consider hiring a company like www.veracitycredit.com to assist you in cleaning up your credit reports. You can also visit www.Transunion.com, www.Experian.com, or www.Equifax.com and refute the negative items on your credit reports yourself.

Once your credit is cleaned up, then shift the debt to better rates. In deciding how much to put into savings, it’s important to do at least something, even if it’s only $10 per month. The key is to begin to shift your financial energy. Then, every time you get a pay raise or bonus, decrease your expenses, or pay off some debt, take at least ⅓ or ½ of that money and apply it to your savings or investments monthly. You’re making a conscious choice and acting upon it. Be sure to make this savings “automatic” using some kind of direct deposit that transfers your money directly from your checking account to your savings or investments. If you don’t, you may sabotage your good intentions and end up spending instead of saving. Position yourself to be “lucky” by paying yourself first.

Once you begin this process of creating financial space in your life, you will begin to reclaim your personal power. Name your dreams and desires and invite them to fill the space you have created. By putting these financial strategies into action, you can begin living the life that you want today.
